One of the most favourite speakers of TYPO London 2011 was Tony Brook whose talk took us on a stroll through the Halifax of his youth, the record sleeves of his teens, and the efforts in stalking his hero Wim Crouwel and delivering an exhibition about Crouwel at London’s Design Museum.

It brings back the good time in spring 2012. TYPO sustain was such a big fun …

TYPO Berlin 2012 was dedicated to the theme "sustain" and the various aspects of sustainability. Not only the responsability of designers to the environment have been an issue but also their empowerment through e.g. spreading information. Very different ideas and approaches inspired the audiences. There have also been a series of workshops where participants could educate themselves or train their creativity.

TYPO San Francisco 2012 took place in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) April 5–6, centering around the theme Connect. The FontShop San Francisco team thoroughly enjoyed organizing this amazing conference. This video recaps how much fun we had with the fantastic speakers and attendees from all over the world. Next up is TYPO London 2012 Social, 19th & 20th October 2012  TYPO San Francisco 2013 in April 11 & 12, 2013 and again TYPO Berlin 2013 in May 16 - 18. We hope to see you again!

The migration of print media to electronic media is accelerating. But many electronic publishers are ignoring typography, creating a dangerous precedent for the future. Matthew Butterick will examine why the historically friendly relationship between typography and the technology industry has crumbled. He will also explain how writers, designers, and readers must take a greater role in preventing typography from being washed away by the tide of declining expectations.

Der Eröffnungsredner der TYPO Berlin 2012 sustain nahm die ethisch moralischen Fragen in den Fokus. Anhand der 7 Sünden und 7 Tugenden zeigte er die großen Probleme und persönlichen Lösungen. Alle, die diesen Vortrag sehen, können hinterher jedenfalls nicht mehr sagen, sie hätten nicht gewusst, worum es im globalen Maßstab und in eigener Verantwortung geht.

Joshua Davis wrapped up Day 1 of TYPO San Francisco Connect on the Novellus Theater Main Stage.

The first TYPO conference in London was a big success. We had great speakers and a huge feedback in lots of magazines and blogs. Now we’re looking forward to the upcomming TYPO conferences in San Francisco “Connect", in Berlin “sustain" and then back to UK the “TYPO London 2012 Authenticity" again at the University of London.

Here are some snapshots around the TYPO London with that special TYPO feeling, on and off stage.

Whenever there are so many well known graphic designers, marketing specialist, brand managers and communication experts, it’s a great opportunity for interviews.
