Vielen Schriften- Entwerfern und – Entwicklern ist sie in bester Erinnerung: die bis 2007 von Linotype veranstaltete TypoTechnica-Konferenz. Wir nehmen diese Tradition gerne auf und verwandeln Konferenzraum 1 – im letzten Jahr das NEST – in das Type Lab: an allen drei Konferenztagen beleuchten Experten die aktuellen Entwicklungen in Font-Technik, Zeichenkunde, Detailtypografie und weitere wichtige Details vor tüftelnden Schriftenfreunden. Neben Vorträgen finden im TYPE Lab auch Schriften bezogene Workshops, an denen ihr teilnehmen könnt.

Georg Seifert
Georg Seifert ist nicht nur Schriftengestalter, seine Schrift Azuro wurde z.B. speziell für Bildschirme gemacht – er entwickelte auch die Schriftgestaltungs-Software Glyphs, die heute bei der Entwicklung von Schriften nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Auf der TYPO demonstriert er mithilfe von Glyphs, wie man einfach und schnell Bilder in Fonts umwandelt, die Farb-Emojis wiedergeben.
Attila Korap
Seit 14 Jahren arbeitet Attila Korap bei Monotype als Font Engineer, in der Font-Entwicklung und hilft jetzt Kunden die beste Schriftenlösung für ihr Anliegen zu finden, zu entwickeln und schließlich zu integrieren. Er referiert über die Problematik, für E-Books und Screens die optimale Schrift zu finden.
Krassen Krestev
Aktuell koordiniert Krassen Krestev den Grafikdesign-Abschluss der American University in Dubai. Sein Interesse liegt auf Bildung und Wandel von Identitäten und Zeichen und Schriftgestaltung mit dem Schwerpunkt Kyrillisch. Sein Vortrag erläutert die Logik und Differenzen des bulgarischen Kyrillisch im Vergleich zur russischen Variante der Schrift und erörtert, wie sich diese durch die Unterschiede in der Typografie in einer anderen Gesamtwahrnehmung des Textes, seiner Lesbarkeit und Informationsdichte niederschlagen.
Gayaneh Bagdasaryan
Die Schriftexpertin für kyrillische Schrift, Gayaneh Bagdasaryan, gibt Einblicke in ihre Arbeit: über neue Schriftkonzepte, den Sprung vom Kyrillischen in die lateinische Schrift und zurück und was den Charakter einer Schrift ausmacht.
Typejockeys
Sie sind nicht nur Schriftgestalter, sondern auch Grafikdesigner. Anna Fahrmaier, Thomas Gabriel und Michael Hochleitner gründeten 2008 die Typejockeys in Wien und wurden mit ihren Schriften Ingeborg und Henriette Lieblinge der Schriftengestalter-Szene. Mit ihrer neurotische Liebe zu typografischen Details werden sie euch auf der TYPO begeistern!
TypeTogether
José Scaglione und Veronika Burian sind die Type Foundry TypeTogether. In ihrem Vortrag erklären uns die beiden in Fallstudien, wie man budgetschonend einen charakteristischen Look & Feel mit Typografie schafft.

We are picking up the tradition and transform the Conference Room 1, that we called NEST last year, into the Type Lab. Over 3 days, you’ll find the most interesting and latest in font technology, written culture and type design. Georg Seifert
Georg Seifert is not only a type designer, his typeface Azuro was specially made for screens – he also developed the font creation software Glyphs, which is today an integral part in the development of fonts. At TYPO he demonstrates how to easily convert images into fonts with Glyphs that render colored emojis.
Attila Korap
Since 14 years, Attila Korap has been working at Monotype. First as a Font Engineer in the font development, he now helps clients to find, develop and finally integrate the best font solution for their cases. He talks about the problem of finding the right typefaces for e-books and screens.
Krassen Krestev
Krassen Krestev is currently a coordinator of the graphic design course of studies at the American University in Dubai. His interest lies on the formation and transformation of identities and characters and type design with a focus on Cyrillic. His talk explains the logic and differences in Bulgarian Cyrillic by comparing it with the Russian alphabet, and goes on to cover how those differences reflect on typography by changing the overall perception of a text, its legibility and its information density.
Gayaneh Bagdasaryan
The expert in Cyrillic type, Gayaneh Bagdasaryan, gives an insight into her work: new type concepts, the leap from Cyrillic to the Latin alphabet and back and what makes the character of a font so special.
Typejockeys
They are not only type designers but also a graphic designers. Anna Fahrmaier, Thomas Gabriel and Michael Hochleitner founded 2008 Typejockeys in Vienna. With their typefaces Ingeborg and Henriette they soon became the darlings of the type designer scene. With her neurotic love for typographical details they will inspire you at TYPO!
