Kicking off TYPO 2014 tomorrow

We are proud to announce that TYPO 2014 is completely sold out! Tomorrow at 10 am the 19th TYPO Berlin will be opening its doors. The opening speech by Holm Friebe will commence at 2 pm. There will be a simultaneous translation with free headsets handed out in front of the entrance of  TYPO Hall. Almost 80 speakers will be putting together the programme on 3 stages; students from design courses in Germany will be taking over TYPO Nest, our fourth stage.

The foyer is the location of workshops, exhibitions, stands, concerts and a great deal more!

TYPO KartonsWithin the last week we moved much of the bits and bobs we need for the conference to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

FontShop will be celebrating our 25th birthday. In a tombola at our booth you can win great prizes on every concernce day – such as a FontBook, tickets for TYPO Berlin 2015 and more – get there and take part! The actual birthday party will be celebrated after the finishing speech tomorrow evening.

Next to the FontShop booth, our partner, the Dutch embassy, will be presenting two exhibitions: »The most beautiful books of the Netherlands« shows the winners of last year’s competition of the same name as well as some classics. »Dutch Engineering« is dedicated to less well-known Dutch graphic designers.

Our Partners

We greatly look forward to welcome our partner booths in the foyer: AGD and BGD representing and being a valued source of advise for many German designers. Designerdock, a job broker specialised in the creative industry. There will also be booths by TypehypeGalleryprintTypekitShutterstock and more partners at the site.

Workshops

At this years TYPO the foyer is also venue for the popular TYPO Workshops whose activities can be observed relaxed from the lounge in the foyer centre.

Print Workshop

Our experimentally minded visitors to TYPO can once again get to know an interesting printing technique. Last year we printed using an old book printing method with Erik Spiekermann. This year you can try out printing on a Risograph with Alexander Branczyk and students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences.

Auction

Last not least we fished out some seldom and beautiful stuff from the FontShop and TYPO collections. Some of our speakers have also brought along some very fine items of their own, which we will be auctioning for a good cause – hand in your bids opposite the registration point! All raised funds go to the King Bansah school..
