Alexandra Korolkova

Alexandra Korolkova is a cyrillic type designer, type researcher and type consultant. Awarded at international type design competitions (incl. Modern Cyrillic, Granshan, ED Awards), she also wrote a book on typography for beginners in Russian (title can be translated as Live Typography). From 2009, she works for ParaType as chief of type design department and participated in Public Types of Russian Federation project (incl. PT Sans and PT Serif) as a leading designer.

Nowadays, quite a lot of Western designers add other scripts, like Cyrillic or Greek, to their typefaces. Fortunately, the time of “Cyrillic” which can’t be recognized at all, is gone, but does it mean that any recent Cyrillic designed by Latin-writing typographers is good? This presentation is devoted to fine-tuning the Cyrillic part of typeface to make it really usable.
